1. "Tool Not Responding" or Freezing: If the software freezes when you click a button, the printer is likely not in Service Mode. Repeat the Service Mode procedure exactly as described above.
To use any version of the Canon Service Tool, the printer must first be placed into Service Mode. If the printer is not in this mode, the tool will not communicate with the device.
Official versions of the Service Tool are generally intended for authorized service centers and are not always hosted on public-facing consumer support pages like the Canon Drivers & Downloads site.
