Introduction
Integration: Borrow the logic from tools like s4u MakeFace or Eneroth Face Creator to bridge small gaps in the source edges before lofting. 4. Updated Licensing & Compatibility curviloft plugin sketchup upd
Feature: A "Send to 3ds Max" or "Unreal Engine" button within the Curviloft UI, mimicking the SketchUp to 3ds Max workflow. The latest version of the plugin for SketchUp
Updates and Versions (The "Upd" aspect)
Current Status: The plugin is mature and stable. It has not had a major "version upgrade" in recent years because it works reliably, but it requires specific components to function correctly with newer versions of SketchUp. Known Limitations & Workarounds
Recent updates (what changed in the latest update)
- Improved algorithm stability for complex profile networks (fewer failed or inverted faces).
- Enhanced interpolation for smoother transitions and better continuity across joins.
- New options for controlling tangency and end conditions (start/end tangency blending).
- Performance optimizations: reduced memory use and faster mesh generation on large profile sets.
- Better handling of non-planar and self-intersecting curves (with warnings and auto-corrections).
- UI refinements: clearer parameter layout, preserved settings between sessions, and more informative error messages.
- Compatibility patches for latest SketchUp versions (including macOS and Apple Silicon) and SketchUp’s updated Ruby API.
- Export-friendly topology: improved face orientation and reduced unnecessary edges for easier downstream use (rendering, 3D printing).
Known Limitations & Workarounds
- No Undo inside tool: Like many advanced SketchUp plugins, changes are applied directly. Use SketchUp's Undo after exiting the tool.
- Curve direction matters: For Loft by Triangles, all profile curves must have the same direction (use
Fredo6_Tools > Reverse Curveif needed). - Complex networks can be slow: Large curve networks may cause lag. Use the "Preview Mode" or reduce segment counts.
- No native quad-mesh output: Surfaces are triangulated or use Fredo6's bezier patches. For true quad meshes, combine with QuadFace Tools (also by Fredo6).
