When the distortion dissipated, Vera found herself standing at the entrance of a foreboding, crimson-hued spire. The air was thick with an eerie, pulsating energy. She drew her sword, a trusty companion that had been passed down through her family, and stepped into the unknown.
Structure & Pacing
- Act I — Descent and Setup: Introduces Vera, the Repeater’s rules, Hollowgate’s dependence, and the primary goal (reach the heart). Early runs demonstrate mechanics: scouting, gambling on single-item retrievals, and tactical learning.
- Act II — Complication and Revelation: Vera forms uneasy alliances, confronts moral costs, and learns the dungeon preserves memories. She discovers living echoes—fragments of past people reconstituted as phantoms—and gains clues to the dungeon’s creation.
