FacetrackNoIR v201 — Installation Guide and Overview
What it is
FacetrackNoIR v201 is a Windows application for head-tracking using a webcam, allowing users to control in-game camera view and POV by tracking facial markers or natural facial features. It’s commonly used with flight sims and driving games to provide hands-free camera control.
- Smoothing to 30% (reduces jitter)
- Minimum face size to 15%
- Exposure manually down (to avoid overexposure washing out facial features)
Configure the Tracker
- Click the Tracker tab.
- From the dropdown, select "Face Tracker" (v1.7).
- Click the "Start" button in the bottom left corner.
If you have a specific v2.0.1 update executable, run it after the base and plugin pack are installed to ensure all files are overwritten correctly. SourceForge 3. Quick Start Configuration facetracknoir v201 install
Step 5: First Launch & Camera Setup
- Plug in your webcam before launching the software.
- Launch FaceTrackNoIR.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Camera Selection: The most common error here is selecting "Generic Webcam." If you are using a PS3 Eye camera (very common for this version), ensure you have the CL-Eye driver installed first, then select it from the dropdown.
- Engine: If you are using this for flight sims, make sure the "Flight Simulator" protocol is selected in the Game Interfaces section.
- Ensure you clicked "Start" in FaceTrackNoIR before launching the game.
- Run FaceTrackNoIR as admin → Game protocol DLLs require permission.
- Check game’s
.ini file for enableTrackIR=1.
- Set a small deadzone at center (0°–5° of head movement = 0° in-game).
- Use exponential curves: Shallow at center, steeper at edges.
Part 6: The Mapping Curve (Stop the Jitter)
Face tracking via webcam is naturally jittery. You fix this in the Filter and Mapping tabs. FacetrackNoIR v201 — Installation Guide and Overview What
