- Licensing: In most countries, transmitting on frequencies outside of unlicensed bands (e.g., FRS, MURS, PMR446) requires an FCC (US) or OFCOM (UK) license. The software allows you to enter any frequency within the radio’s range—that does not make it legal.
- Narrowbanding (US only): As of January 1, 2013, all business/industrial radios operating in VHF/UHF must use 12.5 kHz narrowband. The CPS allows wideband (25 kHz), but using it is a violation unless you hold a grandfathered license.
- Export Controls: The encryption/scrambling feature, though basic, may be subject to ITAR or local export restrictions in some countries.
