The movie takes place in a distant future where humans are genetically engineered to serve an alien race known as the Abrasax. These aliens are a powerful and wealthy family that controls a vast empire across the galaxy. Jupiter Jones, a young woman from Chicago, discovers that she is the last living heir of the Abrasax family.
