This code triggers when the machine's electronic board detects an incorrect reading from the temperature sensor.

1. Unplug the machine from the wall socket.
2. Open the lever/head (if it will open). If it is stuck, leave it.
3. Wait 10 minutes. This allows the capacitors inside to discharge and the logic board to forget the error state.
4. Plug it back in and turn it on. If Error 09 is gone, make a coffee immediately. If it returns, move to Step 2.

If the error persists after resetting and descaling, it may point to a mechanical failure, such as a faulty water pump or a damaged control board.
