The 2016 film Mastizaade, directed by Milap Zaveri, remains a notable entry in the Bollywood adult comedy genre. Starring Sunny Leone in a double role alongside Tusshar Kapoor and Vir Das, the movie aimed to capture the "naughty comedy" market that was popular in the mid-2010s.

In the months that followed, the producers of “Mastizaade” launched a modest campaign encouraging viewers to support the film by watching it in theaters or purchasing legitimate digital copies. Though the pirated version lingered on various mirror sites, the legal avenues eventually reclaimed a portion of the lost revenue. Meanwhile, Filmyzilla continued to host other titles, but intensified scrutiny from both Indian authorities and international copyright groups led to periodic shutdowns and arrests of some of its operators.
