Rtl9210b Datasheet 2021 May 2026

The Realtek RTL9210B is a highly popular controller chip used in USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) to PCI Express NVMe bridge adapters (enclosures/M.2 docks). Because Realtek primarily supplies data sheets under Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) to manufacturers, the full "official" 2021 datasheet is rarely found publicly.

  • Baud rate: Up to 4 Mbps
  • Data bits: 5, 6, 7, or 8 bits
  • Stop bits: 1, 1.5, or 2 bits
  • Parity: None, even, odd, mark, or space

Control & Status

Whether you're working on industrial control systems, medical devices, or consumer electronics, the RTL9210B datasheet 2021 is an essential resource that can help you get started with your design and development projects. rtl9210b datasheet 2021

Power & Ground Pins

  • VDDCORE (Pins 5, 20, 33, 48): 1.05V – Connect to a low-noise LDO (e.g., Richtek RT9013). Bypass with 10 µF + 0.1 µF per pin.
  • VDDIO (Pins 12, 29, 41, 60): 3.3V – Shared with flash IC and EEPROM.
  • VDD_PCIE (Pin 38): 3.3V dedicated for PCIe termination resistors.
  • EPAD (Center pad): Must be soldered to ground with at least 9 thermal vias.

Most chips required a jumper or a firmware flash to switch between NVMe and SATA drives. This one—the Realtek RTL9210B—claimed it could detect the protocol instantly. And the date: 2021. This wasn’t a legacy part. This was fresh silicon, built for the post-COVID world where everyone was building home labs and NAS boxes from spare parts. Baud rate: Up to 4 Mbps Data bits:

Realtek also provided a reference design (RTL9210B-CG EVB) which included a USB-C receptacle, NVMe M.2 M-key slot, SPI flash socket, and two LEDs.

  • UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) – mandatory for >400 MB/s performance
  • TRIM passthrough
  • S.M.A.R.T. attribute reading (via vendor-specific SCSI commands)
  • Configurable spin-down timer (from 5 min to never)
  • Idle power state (PCIe ASPM L1.1 / L1.2)
  • LED patterns (solid = active, blink = R/W, off = standby)
