TechSmith (the developer of Snagit) utilizes a software licensing model. When you purchase Snagit, you are buying a license key that unlocks the software for that specific major version (e.g., Snagit 2025).

1. Download the installer: Go to TechSmith.com and download the Snagit 2025 trial installer.
2. Install the software: Run the .exe (Windows) or .dmg (Mac) file.
3. Launch Snagit: Upon first launch, you will see a "License Activation" window.
4. Enter your key: Type or paste your XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX key into the field.
5. Deactivate Firewall blocks: Ensure your firewall allows Snagit to "phone home." The 2025 key requires a one-time online check.
6. Restart: Once validated, restart the app. You will now see "Snagit 2025" in the title bar without the word "Trial."
