Stremio Addons -
The story of Stremio addons is one of a "hacker’s dream" media player—a shell that starts empty and becomes powerful only through its community
- Addons provide catalogs and streams: An addon can contribute three things to Stremio: metadata (posters, descriptions, ratings), catalogs (rows like "Trending" or "New Releases"), and most importantly, streaming links.
- HTTP-based: Most modern Stremio addons are simply web servers that respond to Stremio's manifest requests. This means you can host your own addons remotely.
- Community-driven: The majority of addons are created and maintained by the Stremio community, not the official team.
- No local video files: Addons do not store or host video files. They index or scrape links from various sources across the web.
Installing and managing add-ons
- Open Stremio → Add-ons (or Catalogs) section.
- Browse official/community add-ons or paste a manifest URL to install a third‑party add-on.
- Enable/disable or remove add-ons from the same menu.
- For local add-ons, run the add-on server on your machine and add its manifest URL (e.g., http://localhost:port/manifest.json).
Result: You will see high-speed, cached Real-Debrid links labeled [RD+] directly in your Stremio player. No buffering, no VPN required. stremio addons
