Prerequisites
-
Hardware Requirements (Host Machine)
- A Windows 10/11 Pro, Enterprise, or Windows Server 2019+ system.
- At least 8 GB RAM (assign 4 GB to the VM).

- A CPU that supports SLAT (Second Level Address Translation) – standard on Intel Core i5+ and AMD Ryzen.
Software Requirements
- Xpenology Bootloader – Use ARC Loader (latest version) or Redpill Recovery (RR). Do not use old jun’s loader for DSM 7.
- Synology DSM 7 PAT file – Download the correct
.patfile from Synology’s website (for the model you emulate). - Hyper-V Manager – Enabled via Windows Features.
- VHDX conversion tool – built into Hyper-V.
- TinyCore Redpill (TCRP) image – optional for advanced builds.
Add a new Shared VHDX or a fixed-size VHDX for your data volume.
5.2 Network Interface
Hyper-V typically presents a virtual NIC based on the Synthetic Driver. TCRP usually includes the
hv_netvscdriver. If the VM fails to obtain an IP address via DHCP, verify that the Virtual Switch is configured correctly and that no legacy network adapters are conflicting. xpenology dsm 7 hyperv
