ZKTeco IP Scanner — Quick Report
Overview
ZKTeco IP Scanner is a Windows utility used to discover ZKTeco biometric and access-control devices on a local network, list their IP addresses, MACs, models, and allow basic device configuration (IP assignment, subnet, gateway). It simplifies deploying and maintaining time-attendance terminals, door controllers, and biometric readers by automating device discovery and offering simple network setup tools.

How It Works (Technical Overview)

Unlike a standard ping sweep, the ZKTeco IP Scanner uses proprietary UDP broadcast packets (specifically on port 4370) to elicit responses from devices. When a ZKTeco device responds, the scanner displays: ZKTeco IP Scanner — Quick Report Overview ZKTeco
Static vs. DHCP: For long-term stability, it is highly recommended to use the scanner to assign a Static IP to your devices so they don't change addresses after a power outage. Unlike a standard ping sweep, the ZKTeco IP
- Change default communication passwords (not just admin UI password). The scanner often supports a "Device Key" – enable it.
- Isolate VLANs: Place all biometric devices on an IoT VLAN with no access to the internet.
- Disable Discovery: In the ZKTeco device menu (Communication > Network > Enable Search), turn off "Broadcast Search." This makes the device invisible to the IP scanner.
- Firewall Rules: Block all inbound port 4370 traffic except from your trusted attendance server's IP.
